Venous Thromboembolism (VTE)
VTE Guide for Executive Leadership | Translating VTE Guidelines into Practice
VTE Guide for Executive Leadership
Overview
HSAG has developed and pilot tested practical tools and materials that hospital executive leadership can use to take a driving role in implementing a VTE prophylaxis process for its patients
VTE Guide for Executive Leadership
The entire
VTE Guide for Executive Leadership can be downloaded as a single file. This is a fairly large file, as it has all of the supporting documents embedded in their native file formats (MS Word, MS PowerPoint). Documents are provided as native-format files so that hospital staff can modify them for their own use.
The individual components can also be downloaded separately:

Translating VTE Guidelines Into Practice
Overview
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) has been identified as one of the most preventable causes of hospital-patient death. While evidence-based consensus guidelines for identifying hospital patients at risk for VTE have been available for over a decade, hospital medical patients are still not routinely screened for VTE risk or provided with appropriate prophylaxis to prevent VTE.
The goal of HSAG's "Translating VTE Guidelines Into Practice" project was to develop and pilot test quality improvement tools and strategies that will improve providers' adherence to guidelines for VTE risk-assessment and appropriate prophylaxis for medical patients. These tools and strategies are now available in the HSAG
VTE Resource Kit.
