Objectives:
This session will provide an overview to the implementation of a comprehensive fall prevention and alarm elimination program. At the completion of this session, attendees should be able to:
- Utilize root cause analysis in the investigation of resident falls
- Analyze the internal, external and system conditions and operations that may have contributed to a resident fall
- Select and apply the interventions that have demonstrable results in reducing and preventing falls
- Identify the challenges and barriers to implementing a program that tests the current practices for fall prevention within the aging services provider community
- Use the provided tools, assessments, forms, and resources to implement a successful fall prevention and reduction program
- Explain the etiology of sleep and wake
- Identify the disturbances that prevent good, effective sleep and wake periods
- Devise a resident care plan

CE Hours:
