Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG) is pleased to announce the continuation of the Behavioral Health Educational Webinar Series. These sessions will continue to help clarify the often confusing and sometimes foreign world of behavioral health.

Topic: 

Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) conjures up frightening and very outdated images. ECT is used to augment counseling and medication with some of the most resistant and potentially disabling symptoms: Learn what ECT looks like today, what diagnoses it is used for, and outcomes.

Webinar Objectives: 

  • Explore what a modern ECT treatment session entails. 
  • Review interventions used to help make ECT as safe and comfortable as possible for patients.
  • Identify situations in which ECT may be recommended.

Speaker: Gagan, Singh, MD, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Banner Behavioral Health Hospital

Gagan Singh, MD, is the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the Banner Behavioral Health Hospital and has served as the Clinical Department Chair for the Banner Medical Group in Phoenix, Arizona. He is a board-certified psychiatrist with additional certifications in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. Dr. Singh has extensive experience in providing Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT). He has been engaged in training and mentoring other physicians in performing ECT at various institutions including Banner Health, Inova Health and the University of Utah. Dr. Singh has been instrumental in the implementation of telehealth psychiatric services at Banner Health. He is passionate about quality clinical care and medical education and is the recipient of several clinical service and teaching awards. Dr. Singh is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), chairs a membership committee for the Arizona Psychiatric Society, is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix and was appointed to the Arizona Governor’s Substance Abuse Task Force in 2016.
