Nitric oxide is helps regulate metabolism and blood sugar levels, both important factors in type 2 diabetes onset. The study involved 1,206 people, and of those who used mouthwash two or more times daily, such subjects were 55 percent more likely to develop type 2 diabetes over a three-year time span.
