- Adapt the HAPI risk assessment for patients with COVID-19 patients (overall, facial, anterior body parts, and posterior body parts).
- List specific challenges that heighten the risk of PIs in patients with acute respiratory distress due to COVID-19.
- Propose one strategy or product that may reduce general or location-specific PIs associated with positioning of patients with COVID-19.
- Delineate specific interventions that may be implemented to prevent PIs due to prolonged use of N95 masks.

Virginia Capasso, PhD, CNP, ACNS-BC, CWS, FACCWS
An advanced practice nurse for wound healing—including pressure injury prevention and treatment—in the Patient Care Services Office of Quality, Safety, & Practice, Dr. Capasso is also a nurse scientist at the Munn Center for Nursing Research at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). She is an instructor in surgery at Harvard Medical School and was the co-founder, co-director, and nurse practitioner of the MGH Wound Care Center (2001–2016).
Dr. Capasso is an alumnus of Northeastern University (BSN), Yale University (MSN), MGH Institute of Health Professions (CAS) and Boston College (PhD). She is a fellow of the American College of Certified Wound Specialists and secretary and board director of the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel.
