HSAG as the ESRD NCC has received the 2019 Dominick Gentile, MD, Memorial Award from the American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP). This award is presented to a network or entity that has developed and maintains a program that significantly benefits patients.
The ESRD NCC is being recognized for its Patient Grant Library, which was activated this year. The library has been very well received by patients, kidney organizations, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The Patient Grant Library offers information on funding sources to support ideas for education, advocacy, and/or helping others who are living with kidney disease. Grants can be given for projects big or small, simple or extensive.
The library and its resources make it easy to apply for a grant, even for a first-timer. It includes links to trusted sources that help users write a proposal, create a budget, and complete an application. The library also offers ideas about funding sources beyond grants, such as crowdfunding and social media. For more information on the library, click here.
The AAKP is the nation’s oldest and largest independent kidney patient organization. The association promotes early detection and is committed to helping kidney patients through education, advocacy, patient engagement and the fostering of patient communities.
